I recently had the chance to photograph a beautiful black Audi R8 Spyder out in Ivins, Utah — and sunset in the red desert could not have been a better setting. As the sun dropped behind the cliffs, the warm orange light hit the rock faces and created this incredible contrast with the deep gloss black paint of the car.

We shot just before and during golden hour, starting with wider landscape frames to place the R8 in the scene, then moving in closer to capture the curves, vents, and details with the top down. The reflections across the bodywork kept changing as the light softened, which made every angle feel unique.

By the time blue hour rolled in, the sky turned cooler and the car’s lights took over, giving the final shots a clean, cinematic feel. It was a simple shoot in an amazing location: iconic car, calm desert, perfect light.

If you’d like to do a similar shoot or have a car you’d love photographed, feel free to reach out.
